Job Description

Duties

  • Installing and maintaining electrical circuits, all types of electrical equipment, appliances, lighting fixtures and other systems;
  • Troubleshooting and testing electrical systems and electronic equipment to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components;
  • Conducting preventative maintenance/repair responsibilities, following quality assurance and safety procedures continually; completing work orders;
  • Working in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contraventions of the Act, in a timely manner;
  • Performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned and/or required.

Qualifications

  • At minimum, completion of high school plus Electrician Apprenticeship Program or recognized equivalent;
  • 5 years, 9,000 hours of apprenticeship training, which includes approx. 8760 hours on-the-job training, {8 – 10 weeks (240 – 300 hours) of technical training in a classroom in each year for four years};
  • 5-8 years practical and related experience and/or Apprenticeship 3-5 years on the job training;
  • Construction and Maintenance Electrician 309A License, required;
  • Good mathematical skills;
  • Good strength and manual dexterity skills;
  • Ability to distinguish colors to work with color-coded wiring;
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical schematics, and Electrical Code Book;
  • Ability to work in constricted spaces;
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines;
  • Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task;
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills;
  • Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand;
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job: able to lift up to 60kg
