THE OPPORTUNITY
RAM Iron & Metal is looking for a competent and experienced Manager, Maintenance to join our Team. The Manager, Maintenance, under the direction of the General Manager will be responsible for overseeing all maintenance operations within the metal recycling yard, ensuring the efficient upkeep of equipment, machinery, and infrastructure critical to recycling operations.

OVERVIEW
The successful candidate must be able to develop maintenance procedures and ensure implementation. They are responsible for carrying out inspections of the yards to identify and resolve issues. They will be well-versed in all maintenance process and health and safety regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITES
· Develop and implement maintenance procedures specific to metal recycling equipment, including balers, shears, and hydraulic systems, to optimize operational efficiency.
· Coordinate maintenance activities for a fleet of commercial vehicles, including trucks and trailers, to minimize downtime and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
· Manage the maintenance budget, forecasting expenses for equipment repairs, spare parts, and preventative maintenance measures.
· Recruit, train, and supervise maintenance staff, providing guidance on specialized tasks such as welding and equipment repairs.
· Conduct regular inspections of metal recycling equipment and facilities to identify maintenance needs, addressing issues promptly to prevent disruptions in operations.
· Evaluate equipment performance and reliability, implementing upgrades or modifications to enhance productivity and safety.
· Collaborate with procurement teams to source specialized parts and materials required for metal recycling equipment maintenance.
· Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment history, and safety inspections, to ensure regulatory compliance and track maintenance costs.
· Implement preventative maintenance programs tailored to the unique needs of metal recycling equipment, prolonging equipment lifespan and reducing unexpected breakdowns.
· Stay informed about advancements in metal recycling technology and best practices in maintenance management to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
· Ensure health and safety policies are complied with.
· Other duties as required, not limited to responsibilities listed above.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
· Five (5) to ten (10) years of prior practical experience.
· Experience in planning maintenance operations.
· High School diploma or equivalent; Degree from a vocational school or BSc/BA in business administration or facility management will be an asset.
· Ozone Depletion Certificate is an asset.
· Certified forklift driver is an asset.
· Prior Lock-out training and or certification.
· Knowledge of man lift equipment, fall arrest, and fire extinguishers.
· Working at Heights certificate is an asset.
· Knowledge of mechanics and machine maintenance.
· Knowledge of welding.
· Preventative maintenance.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The working environment is busy and fast paced, with regular and ongoing interactions with colleagues, management, and the public at large. There may be frequent interruptions, and from time to time be noisy. The employee must have knowledge of how to manage their own personal safety under these conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to be able to lift up to and including 50lbs, sit and/or stand for extended periods of time and reach with arms/hands. Walking, walking up/down stairs, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items is occasionally required.
